Students are employed flexibly to accommodate the commitments required by their studies while gaining pre-registration exposure to the workplace.
Students contribute to MHAODS service delivery model within the Mackay Hospital and Health Services under the delegation and practice supervision of an Occupational Therapist in the provision of effective patient care.About The TeamThe Alcohol and Other Drugs (AODS) and Specialists Team works individually and in group settings to provide ongoing mental health interventions.
The team consists of: Early Psychosis Team, Older Persons Mental Health, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team and Alcohol and Other Drugs Services.
The Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team (MIRT) delivers safe, high quality, intensive, integrated and evidence driven mental health care.
Clinicians provide a responsive, assertive treatment and rehabilitation recovery orientated multidisciplinary service, aimed at improving the quality of life for clients with complex mental health needs who require intensive intervention in the community.
MIRT assists in facilitating the development or re-engagement with meaningful life roles for clients, with an explicit belief that people can and do recover from mental illness.
Clinicians provide developmentally appropriate, specialist mental health interventions and ongoing assessment for those clients who require higher intensity treatment and support to recover from mental illness.
The team plan, co-ordinate and support a range of internal and external services with clients and their carers.
Clinicians work with clients and their networks to develop their sense of self efficacy, personal support systems and live independently to participate fully within their chosen community.About Our Hospital And Health ServiceMackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff.
