Correctional centres are responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.
In this role you will:
Provide training and skill development opportunities for offenders relevant to centre based vocational activities. Provide opportunities for offenders to obtain employment related vocational education and training. Coordinate and deliver vocational programs as required. Monitor and coordinate the work of volunteers and part time personnel working within the vocational and training sector. Administer training records including, storage, retrieval and archiving. Report on the conduct of assessment and record assessment results accurately in accordance with procedures. Liaise with the Adult Education Vocational Education and Training (AEVET) Branch for the implementation of relevant contracted and other VET training. Support Centre-based vocational education and training providers. Administer a quality control system for maintaining feedback with management, providers and participants. Manage process for dispatching training related materials. Contribute to funding estimates for vocational education and training activities in the facility. Provide program timetables and student attendance. Schedule contracted VET delivery and record prisoner training outcomes on IOMS. Contribute toward the operational plan by providing forward funding estimates for training. Ensure other employees, contractors and visitors are not exposed to risks to their health and safety arising out of your conduct. Comply with all policies, procedures and instructions given for workplace health and safety at the workplace by the Agency and ensure your workplace area is safe and without risk to health. Ensure accuracy and completeness of offender participation in vocational programs on the Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS). Participate in team meetings and other planning activities. Report on service delivery outcomes to key stakeholders including the AEVET Branch. Assess offenders' vocational training needs. Maintain records of course participation. Attend sentence management review meetings where appropriate. Provide current information on vocational education and training programs being offered. Maintain a high level of professional knowledge and skill in the relevant field/s. The essential requirements for this role are:
Competence in facilitating vocational education and training programs to diverse client groups Development, implementation and evaluation of vocational training programs to individuals or groups Assessing the vocational education and training needs of clients as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity principles and practices High level oral and written communication skills Ability to liaise with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds Knowledge and application of legislation, policies and procedures Various cultures, community organisations and groups Applications to remain current for 12 months.
