About the role
: The role is a Nursing Unit Manager Position Level 1. The role has a leadership and management component as well as a clinical load. The leadership and management requirements include, rostering, ordering, human resource related issue management, as well as sharing your professional expertise, to ensure compassionate patient-centred care is provided by the service.
In this role our successful candidate will be supported by the Palliative and End of Life Care Clinical Care Stream, experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists, Staff Specialist and the nursing team. The role will also be supported by the Operational Nurse Manager, Acute Inpatient Services at Maitland Hospital.
Where you'll be working:
1. The Maitland Dungog Palliative Care Service is based within the grounds of the Old Maitland Hospital, in High St provides Community Palliative Care services across the Maitland and Dungog LGA’s, as well as an inpatient consultative service to both Maitland and Dungog Hospital. You will be leading, managing and working with a cohesive and supportive multidisciplinary team, providing high level evidence based care.
2. The service is a multi-professional, specialist service, which provides community consultations, advice, support and selected direct – care elements to registered patients in the Maitland and Dungog Local Government areas.
3. The service operates 7 days per week, with an after- hours phone on call service also provided to clients outside of business hours.

You will have great attention to detail, be motivated and committed to the Excellence framework of ‘every patient, every time’, and to your own professional development.
5. The successful applicant will be a friendly, enthusiastic team player, who has a keen interest to learn and expand their current skill set. Using your effective communication skills you are able to perform autonomous assessments but to also work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and have a passion for providing patient centred community palliative care.

Information for Applicants:
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
