What you'll be doing
An exciting opportunity is now available for Permanent Full time Hospital Assistants to join our dynamic Domestic Services team located at Nepean Hospital.
You will bring to this role effective cleaning, providing services to clinical and non clinical areas, including (but not limited to) Wards, Emergency, Theatres, isolated clinical areas, in accordance with infection control policies and procedures in order to provide a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and safety for patients, clients, staff and visitors.
This is a fast paced environment which will see you communicate with Supervisors, General Services Department, Operations Coordinator, Nursing Unit Managers and Team Leaders, Nursing staff, Wards persons & Patient Service Assistants. Your role will see you use and operate industrial equipment and chemicals in accordance with Safe Work Practices, Report any safety hazards/incidents and near misses to Supervisor immediately and at all times wear and maintain uniform in accordance with the Uniform Policy.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection criteria to be addressed:
1. Demonstrated experience and ability to perform physically demanding cleaning tasks in a hospital environment.
2. Demonstrated ability to meet the needs of customers by providing good customer service.
3. Demonstrated good communication skills in English and the ability to read and understand essential documentation including safe work practices and infection control procedures.
4. Demonstrated ability & capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
5. Demonstrated ability to prioritise time sensitive tasks
6. Knowledge & compliance with Work Health & Safety Legislation & Guidelines and Willingness to protect the health and safety of self and others at work, under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
7. Ability to work any shift within a 24/7 rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
