The Assistant Director Property & Services is an office-based position with responsibility for managing the Melbourne IP Office (MIPO) in a service delivery context. The role is supported by a Corporate Support Officer who reports directly to this role. The Assistant Director Property & Services reports to the Director Property & Services, located in Canberra. Working from MIPO, the General Manager, Trade Marks and Designs, is executive sponsor for the MIPO office and is responsible for overseeing local personnel and office management. The General Manager and Assistant Director Property & Services work closely together to support the MIPO, and broader team based in Victoria. The Assistant Director Property & Services is a strong leader who works under limited direction exercising reasonable autonomy and accountability. This position is responsible for managing and/or providing detailed and accurate technical and strategic advice relating to property matters and facility services specific to the section's core responsibilities. The Assistant Director Property & Services is the primary point of contact at MIPO for a number of key activities: Lease management Facilities maintenance and property compliance Office management (Landlord services liaison, office access and parking) Security liaison and office access pass activation WHS Co-ordinating MIPO emergency planning and response with building management and IP Australia Assist with onboarding and orientation of new employees working from MIPO IT support and maintenance Procurement Records Management and mail and freight distribution services. The key duties of the position include The right person for this role will have: The ability to research, advise, and implement legislative and policy requirements that apply to the above functions Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective internal and external relationships across a variety of stakeholders and to lead a small team in managing expectations and achieving desired outcomes The ability to adapt, respond and lead in a changing environment High-level written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to prepare briefings and correspondence to a high standard Understanding of the Commonwealth Property Management Framework (RMG 500); Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act; Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act, Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) .and any other legislation associated with core duties or the ability to quickly acquire the knowledge Experience in physical security management, with familiarity with the Commonwealth's Protective Security Policy Framework.
