Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for managing the long term financial strategy of the Council, including financial forecasting, general rate revenue modeling, and corporate budget development. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient delivery of financial services and maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include: Leading the development and review of long term financial forecasting models and strategies. Managing the annual corporate budget process and financial modeling for various revenue streams. Providing expert financial advice on rate revenue forecasting and financial sustainability. Overseeing the Financial Planning Unit, including staff development, performance management, and team productivity. Liaising with government departments and external partners to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. About You We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced financial leader with a strong background in financial planning and modeling. You will have a proven ability to lead teams, manage complex financial processes, and provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders. To be successful in this role, you will need: Relevant tertiary qualifications; desirable - membership with CA / CPA or an equivalent professional body. Strong knowledge of financial forecasting, budgeting, and Australian Accounting Standards. Demonstrated leadership and team management experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Experience with financial management systems within the context of a complex, multifaceted organisation. Also desirable is knowledge of Local Government Act and relevant legislation, as well as an understanding of utilities pricing and regulatory frameworks.
