The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience in the installation of various types of automotive paint shop equipment and systems.Location: Southfield, MIPosition Summary: Oversee and participate in site activity with the goal of successfully installing and commissioning Dürr automated paint shop equipment and systems.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesInstallation of various types of automotive paint shop equipment and systems: paint and sealer robots, materials supply systems (booths, conveyors, etc)Directing skilled trade contractors as requiredLiaising between the customer, contractors, and Dürr staffOverseeing and reporting on the daily activity of a given projectAdvising department managers of site requirements regarding personnelOverseeing and orchestrating the activity of the contractor individuals assigned to their specific site and tracking contractor hours.Ensuring the site is adequately staffed to meet project schedule milestonesCommission and document all automation equipment as requiredWhen required, provide customer training on installed equipmentRepair malfunctioning automation equipmentConduct equipment start-up and debug for Dürr and non-Dürr productsAssist with the debugging of controls hardware and softwareRecord baseline data for areas of responsibilityMark up drawing changesWork as part of a team on major projects or individually on smaller projectsTravel approximately 95%Nonessential FunctionsOther assigned duties as requiredQualificationsAssociate degree (Electrical or Mechanical)Two or more years of position-related experience; formal education considered in lieu of experienceAbility to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematicsAble to communicate well with customers and colleaguesStrong electrical backgroundFamiliarity with pneumatic circuitryFamiliarity with the design and installation of paint circulation systemsFamiliarity with the design and installation of sealer systemsFamiliarity with structural support requirementsFamiliarity with the use of a theodolite for robot leveraging is a plusAble to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings/EplanProficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPointKnowledge of SAP is a plusGood time management skillsGood organizational skillsGood verbal communication skillsGood technical writing skillsPhysical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit, kneel, crawl; and use hands and arms.
