Sydney Water is looking for an experienced Principal Regulatory Economist to lead and support economic, pricing, and competition strategies.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence regulatory outcomes and drive efficiency within water markets.
You'll work on key strategic projects, providing expert analysis and insights that impact both Sydney Water and its customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Help lead IPART submissions, provide economic or policy advice on pricing issues with sound analysis and communication.
Develop expertise on strategic projects, assessing proposals for their impact on Sydney Water and customers.
Coordinate data collection to meet information disclosure obligations.
Manage and undertake regulatory economic and financial modelling across multiple internal teams.
Research and contribute to regulation design, including pricing structures, cost of capital, and incentive mechanisms.
Provide economic input to Sydney Water submissions and advocate for company positions on economic issues.
Skills & Experience:
7-10 years' experience in Economics or Finance, preferably within a regulatory or utility context.
Strong strategic thinking in utility regulation and competitive markets.
Deep understanding of government and regulatory policies.
Skilled in economic and financial modelling, and the ability to propose effective solutions.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to lead and work within multi-disciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
Previous experience with Government, Business, or Regulatory Utilities is desirable.
