Large scale Infrastructure/Network ModernisationLong term contract engagement opportunityCanberra based - up to 3 days per week / hybrid workingOur client is a Federal Government Agency investing significantly in Corporate and Operational IT digitisation and Transformation.This Infrastructure Architect opportunity will be part of a large capital refresh program which aims to maintain the technology environment and reduce severe departmental risk. The objectives of this workstream are to replace end-of-life infrastructure hardware, uplift operating system and database layer software to the latest endorsed versions, consolidate duplicate wholesale services, and standardise similar technologies. This will be achieved through implementing solutions that enhance cyber security, lower complexity, consolidate and standardise the environment, improve stability, resiliency and functionality for hosted applications and their end-users, and ultimately avoid unnecessary costs of running hosted server environments.Key duties and responsibilitiesDeveloping and documenting strategies for the replacement/upgrade of End of Life and End of Support items including discovery, analysis, recommendation, and migration.Developing and documenting strategies to remediate key infrastructure risks.Working closely with outsourced ICT providers and business owners on the planning and implementation of technical strategies and tactical wins.Ensuring that strategies and recommendations align with DAFF's cloud/on-prem models.Ensuring smooth transition of final solutions to the BAU teams.Utilising information systems to interrogate, input, collate and retrieve data for operational support teams.Collaboratively work with business and product stakeholders to understand needs, expectations and current pain points.Ensure compliance with the relevant governance arrangements associated with delivery of the department's ICT projects.Maintaining currency and subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.Skills Required:Extensive experience as an Infrastructure Architect working in Federal Government.At least 5 years' experience working within technology, networks and/or infrastructure projects.Knowledge of or experience implementing ISM and Essential 8 controls.Demonstrated experience with a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including (but not limited to): Azure cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), Linux/Unix and Windows servers and databases, ICT services including DNS, NTP, AD, PKI, Microsoft Exchange, monitoring, logging, automation/CICD, and VDI technologies.
