Must be able to obtain Baseline Security clearance.
The aim of the project is to update and uplift data protection capability with a focus on our hybrid environment. The successful candidate will:
1. Lead the design and implementation of a data backup replacement project which aims to refresh the organisation's current backup system.
2. Develop the overarching backup policies and strategies.
3. Develop key documentation such as architectural outlines, detailed designs, as-built documentation and standard operating procedures.
4. Assist with BAU backup and recovery tasks.
Key requirements of the successful candidate must have skills and experience with (mandatory):
1. Designing and implementing backup systems for on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.
2. DELL Data Domain backup repositories.
3. Write once, read many (WORM) functionality for immutable backups.
4. Compression and deduplication.
5. Cloud-based backup tools and systems.
6. Defining backup schedules and retention policies in alignment with business and compliance requirements.
7. Hybrid environments – On-premise and Cloud (Azure, AWS and GCP).
8. Government cyber security frameworks (ISM, Essential 8, PSPF).
The following additional skills and experience would be of benefit:
1. Extensive knowledge of a range of backup systems (e.g., Veeam, Commvault) and storage options (both on-premise and cloud).
2. Automated recovery testing.
3. Understanding of BCP and DR practices.
4. Monitoring and logging of backup operations.
5. Virtualisation – VMware ESXi.
6. Microsoft Windows Server.
