The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) is seeking a Manager (Maintenance) to oversee the management of our built asset portfolio at the Toowoomba Campus and designated remote sites. In this critical role, you will provide strong leadership and mentoring to your team, ensuring that our facilities meet and exceed customer expectations while adhering to all regulatory and safety requirements. What you'll do Your expertise will inspire positive change, enhance operational efficiencies, and promote best practices in maintenance management, all while ensuring the responsible stewardship of our built environment. The Manager (Maintenance) is responsible for leading the Facilities Maintenance team to foster high performance and teamwork while managing financial and physical resources in accordance with University policies. In this dynamic role, your key responsibilities will include: Implementing proactive maintenance strategies, identifying and mitigating safety risks through regular inspections, and ensuring compliance with building codes and legislation. Implementing safety documentation, crafting multi-year maintenance plans, managing both planned and reactive maintenance delivery, coordinating with contractors, and serving as the primary contact for urgent maintenance incidents outside regular hours. Resolve complex asset issues and provides technical advice to stakeholders. This role requires regular travel between UniSQ campuses and may involve out-of-hours work to respond to critical incidents or other high-priority tasks. What will help you succeed Together with your relevant qualification and extensive experience in building services, facilities management, business, or engineering. You will also have: Proven leadership skills in managing diverse teams, in-depth knowledge of building infrastructure (electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry), and strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; Demonstrate experience in developing resource plans, managing contractors and materials, and proficiency in applying building codes and standards; High computer literacy in resource and works planning software is essential.
