Job Description
The Melbourne Environmental Division is seeking a Full-time Instrument Chemist for the Inorganics Team. The successful applicant will become part of a team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time.
Key Responsibilities
* Daily analysis and reporting of Inorganic sample analysis.
* Ensuring analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions including QA/QC.
* Organising designated tasks to maximize daily efficiencies.
* Highlighting and rectifying anomalies in results, quality, and sample type behaviour.
* Performing housekeeping duties and maintaining relevant documentation.
* Calibrating and maintaining equipment as required.
* Preparation of standards and performing calculations as required for sample analysis.
* Controlling consumable stock required for the tasks performed.
* Assisting in other duties as required.
About You
The successful candidate will possess the following qualities:
* Previous work experience in a commercial laboratory with a strong proven background of GLP compliance and high laboratory performance.
* Bachelor of Science or equivalent (Honours and Chemistry disciplines advantageous but all sciences backgrounds are encouraged to apply).
* Competent in Microsoft Office and experience with LIMS Software.
* A working knowledge of inorganic sample preparation techniques for Environmental samples.
* Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
* Interest in method development, verification, and validation.
* Scientific interpretation, judgment and problem-solving skills.
* A working knowledge and positive attitude towards lab safety requirements.
* Ability to work under pressure in a team environment facilitated by an ability to plan and problem solve.
* A keen interest in inorganic chemistry and associated analysis with the ability to pick up new training and skill sets quickly.
* Ability to work a typical 8-hour shift across 5 days a week between Monday-Saturday; but also be flexible to do earlier or later shifts during busy periods.
