Consultant in Geriatric Medicine Opportunity
We are seeking a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine to be based in Rockhampton, Queensland. This regional city offers an ideal lifestyle with 300 days of sunshine per year and is the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.
The health service provides healthcare to Central Queensland, covering a catchment area of approximately 250,000 people, expected to continue growing.
As appointed consultant, you will maintain commitment to Central Queensland Health values and deliver services striving for efficacy targets in safety, quality, clinical, and operational outcomes.
You will contribute to the full scope of geriatric services including Acute, Subacute, Community, Outpatient, and Interim Care. This includes managing complex behavioural patients, consultation services across Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, leading patient journey/discharge planning activities, and participating in Orthogeriatric services.

About the Hospital
Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. It offers specialist medical services, including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care, and Anaesthesia.
The hospital provides training for Medical Students and has links with the Central Queensland University for Nursing and Health Studies. There is a strong emphasis on strengthening the "grow your own" medical workforce.
Essential Criteria
* Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent.
