Professional Employees Award 2020 (MA000065) Position Overview: The Junior Electronics Design Engineer will assist in the design, fabrication and testing of electronic components and enclosures, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The role involves developing firmware, providing technical support to senior engineers and troubleshooting electrical and electronic issues. They will work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer as part of a larger diversely skilled team. Continued education and certification relevant to the role are required to ensure ongoing professional expertise. This position will provide exposure to industrial additive manufacturing (3D printing), CNC machining, sheet metal and other fabrication and assembly capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the design, fabrication and testing of analog and digital electronic circuits. Collaborate in PCB layout and schematic design using tools such as Altium Designer, KiCAD or similar platforms. Support the prototyping, testing and debugging of electronic systems. Work with engineering teams to integrate hardware and software components, including developing firmware (STM32 and embedded Linux) that controls hardware devices. Assist in the preparation and review technical documents and specifications. Provide technical support to senior engineers specifically to diagnose faults and troubleshoot electrical/electronic issues. Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas for improving designs and processes. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure successful product fabrication and assembly. Actively engage in on-the-job training and other formal education, seeking guidance and feedback to develop technical skills and improve industry knowledge. Skills and Qualifications: Completion or close to completion of a Bachelors (or higher) Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering (Mandatory) Foundational understanding of circuit design principles including analog, digital and/or mixed-signal systems (mandatory) Demonstrated ability to assist in identifying and resolving electronic and electrical technical issues under supervision (Mandatory). Experience in electrical/electronic & PCB design and layout (Desirable). Familiarity with microcontrollers and basic knowledge of embedded systems (Desirable). Experience with CAD tools for mechanical design (Desirable).
