The Bardi and Jawi Niimidiman Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (BJNAC) is the registered native title body of the Prescribed Body Corporate for the Bardi and Jawi people. They are the native title holders as recognised by the Federal Court in Sampi v State of Western Australia (No 3) (2005) FCA 1716.The Bardi and Jawi communities are the heart and soul of BJNAC, with the organisation serving as a dedicated advocate for their native title rights and interests. Representing several hundred Traditional Owners, BJNAC is a pivotal entity in their communities by being a key facilitator for advancing their collective interests and aspirations.BJNAC is now strategically focused on becoming independent, economically sustainable and improving their capability to engage with proponents, Government, and statutory processes. Funding through the Native Title Party Capacity Building Program (Capacity Building Program) will enable Bardi and Jawi people to map places of significance under threat and identify and detail the management required to protect, preserve and share the story of Bardi and Jawi Country.Job Description/OverviewThis role is primarily to support the BJNAC Executive Officer (EO) to build the cultural, physical and economic capacity of Traditional Owners so that they can realise their distinctive relationship with their land and waters. Working under the direction of the BJNAC EO, this includes developing and delivering projects that leverage opportunities to strengthen and sustain cultural preservation, support the management of land, sea, heritage and cultural requirements and improve social development outcomes.Key Responsibilities:Heritage Management:Support BJNAC to safeguard Bardi and Jawi cultural heritage sites within the native title determination area. Collaborate with Bardi and Jawi communities and cultural authorities to identify, document, and preserve these sites.Provide expert advice and support to the EO, project teams, contractors and other stakeholders on matters relating to the management of Bardi and Jawi cultural heritage to ensure Aboriginal cultural heritage guidelines, policies and practices are implemented to meet legislative, business and social responsibilities and ensure land matters are addressed early.Project Implementation:Manage the planning, execution, and evaluation of BJNAC projects. Ensure projects align with the BJNAC’s strategic objectives and are completed within budget and timeline.Community Engagement:Foster strong relationships with Bardi and Jawi communities. Facilitate open dialogue, address concerns, and involve community members in decision-making processes.Capacity Building:Enhance the organisation's capabilities through staff training, process improvement, and resource optimisation. Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Qualifications and ExperienceDegree in a relevant field.Experience in land and/or heritage management.Excellent project management skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.Knowledge of native title laws and regulations.Knowledge of Aboriginal heritage laws and regulations.Knowledge of land administration laws and regulations.Knowledge of marine administration laws and regulations.Working knowledge of Bardi and Jawi community heritage aspirations and cultural resource management, or the ability to obtain.Specialist expertise in cultural heritage and stakeholder management.Strategic land and resource planning:Demonstrated ability to conduct cultural heritage audits and develop plans that secure social, cultural, environmental and economic benefits.Planning and organizational skills:Implementing processes, tasks and resources required to achieve goals and find effective ways to deal with anticipated and unexpected barriers.Managing consultants and meeting time critical deadlines.Information Technology:Experience using computer software, in particular Microsoft Office, GIS software, internet and email, publisher and project management databases.Demonstrated experience and record of achievement in one or more of the following fields:Natural resource management;Cultural heritage;Project management;
