Meandu Mine currently has five working pits using a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations to produce over 6 million tonnes of coal per year.About the Role:We are seeking a full-time permanent Drill & Blast Superintendent to join our Meandu team on a 9-day fortnight roster, reporting to the Mining Manager. In this role you will be responsible for leading the drill and blast, dragline and mine services team in line with the site’s safety legislation and operating procedures. In addition, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the dragline and earth works operations, partnering closely with our Technical Services team to ensure contract compliance and KPI delivery.Key responsibilities:Lead continuous improvement activities and provide technical knowledge to improve efficiencies in Drill & Blast operations, Dragline operations and Mine Services.Resolving resourcing and scheduling issues to deliver and outperform the required plan outcomes. Deep understanding and consideration of the plan, risks and opportunities driving a safe and stable execution of an agreed Mine plan.Lead a team of supervisors to ensure daily, weekly and monthly targets are executed in line with the mine plan and KPI’s.Advanced knowledge of pre-strip blasting techniques will be essential.Maintain a high level of safety awareness of all employees and contractors.Ensure ongoing effective people management of the supervision team and crew by setting clear performance objectives and providing regular feedback and development for employees through training and skills development.About You:As the Superintendent, you will have demonstrated capability in a large-scale open cut mining operation with experience in drilling and blasting activities, operational requirements for draglines and mine services.You will have a strong safety focus with a sound knowledge & understanding of relevant statutory regulations and organisational requirements and experience managing budgets. You will have strong leadership attributes, relationship building and influencing skills in order to hold others to account.Ideally 5-10 years’ experience in an open cut coal mining leadership position.S1,2,3 and G2 competencies are minimum qualifications.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be a team-focused leader with the ability to mentor and develop site personnel.Effective people management and leadership development experience preferred.Working at BUMA:BUMA Australia is a people-focused business, with a strong focus on safety, training, development and continuous improvement.
