Acting Nurse Unit Manager - Surgical WardACTING NURSE UNIT MANAGER | SURGICAL WARDDynamic Team EnvironmentMaternity Leave Cover 31st March – 11th June 2025An exciting opportunity exists for a Maternity Leave Contract 76hrs / fortnight for Acting Nurse Unit Manager of Surgical Ward, commencing April 2025.As Acting Nurse Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include:Providing professional nursing leadership by ensuring all staff practice according to AHPRA professional standards, code of ethics and conduct, legislative requirements, Healthscope’s policies and processes, required registration, scope of practice and patient confidentiality and privacy.Leading a learning environment within the Unit by maintaining own professional learning and continuous professional development and by providing coaching and guidance to ENs, RNs graduates, students and other staff.Implementing Healthscope’s patient safety and quality frameworks within the Unit by identifying areas of improvement, leading and conducting clinical audits, leading quality improvement projects and the plan for the Unit, and participating in National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards and risk committees / meetings.Supporting VMO partners by building positive and constructive working relationships, ensuring VMOs feel part of the Unit and that they adopt the Unit operating rhythms and ways of working, to enable high quality patient outcomes.Delivering commercial outcomes of the Unit by leveraging data to proactively manage rosters and labour hours (including agency, over-time, skill-mix, attendance and alignment to activity), occupancy, discharges and length of stay.Practice, role model, champion and hold people to account to live the Healthscope Safe Values to create a positive experience for colleagues, patients, families.Maintaining a workplace that protects the health, safety and wellbeing of our people; leads and undertakes duties in alignment with Healthscope’s Health and Safety system and framework.Minimum Requirements:Minimum 3 years Surgical experienceAvailability to work full-time day shifts.Authority to Work in AustraliaExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsHighly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detailKnowledge of KPI / budget managementThis position is open to internal candidates only from within Healthscope.About UsWith 120 inpatient Surgical and Medical beds, a rehabilitation gym, 7 operating theatres, 2 procedure rooms, a day oncology unit and an ICU, Sunnybank Private Hospital has been providing care to our local community for over 40 years and continually embraces the highest quality of holistic patient care.If you feel you meet the above criteria, please register your interest by submitting your resume and expression of interest to Vanessa Robinson, Assistant Director of Nursing.Applications close: 12th March 2025
