Job Title: Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner
Centacare Specialist Family Support Services (SFSS) is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability or disadvantage.

The Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner to join our team based in Hervey Bay on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Completing client intakes, including initial risk assessment and safety planning.
* Providing counselling to a diverse range of stakeholders, including psychoeducation, crisis counselling, and intervention, and group facilitation for children, couples, adults, and families.
* Ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children and young people, providing age-appropriate, developmentally sound, evidence-based work as required.
* Supporting the identification of goals and immediate needs to increase safety and recovery.
* Advocating on behalf of women and children experiencing violence and abuse, making suitable referrals, assessing eligibility for safety upgrades, and other forms of practical assistance.
* Participating in meetings and liaising with other local stakeholders, such as Child Safety.
Requirements:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised institution (including eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, PACFA, or ACA).
* A well-developed understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act, and Family Law Act, as well as the issues and impacts on families engaged in these systems.
* Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence.
* Knowledge, skills, and experience in brief, solution-focused counselling and psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.
* Knowledge, skills, and experience in trauma-informed care, triaging crisis, risk management, and working under pressure.
* Strong written work, including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry, and computer literacy skills.
* Effective communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to advocate for clients' needs with other statutory organisations/departments.
* A high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
* Ability to support and work with diverse families with complex needs.
Additional Requirements:
* Current QLD Working with Children Check.
* Evidence of Australian Work Rights to confirm citizenship or visa holder status.
* Current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check.
* A current driver's licence.
