Our purpose is 'great care every day'.The opportunityThe Nurse Educator position leads and delivers skills-based training designed to support staff in assessing, managing, and responding to risk behaviour. The position facilitates the strategic intent of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) commitment to providing quality training enabling staff to respond to unpredictable behaviours in a safe and effective manner in the workplace, using least restrictive practices. The nurse educator must be accredited or can gain accreditation in the prescribed OVP training program to fulfil the requirements of training delivery to the organisation.Role requirementsQualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.Highly Desirable: The nurse educator must be accredited or can gain accreditation in the prescribed OVP training program to fulfil the requirements of training delivery to the organisation.Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.Travel: Please note, from time-to-time this position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities located within the Rural Hospitals Service Group network to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities. This may involve day and/or overnight stays. Travel on small planes or ferry may be required. The successful applicant/s will need to be able to commit to this requirement.The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:Provide expert nursing leadership and coordination.Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards.Integrate the strategic direction and priorities for quality improvement into the clinical service, establishing a quality framework.Advanced leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management skills to ensure customer focused service provision amongst the multidisciplinary team.High level of communication skills required for problem solving and decision making.Use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.Ongoing professional development of self and others.Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles) with demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.Please refer to the Role Description for further details.Generous remuneration packageWage rate ranges between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
