Our client is a leading mining services business operating on multiple sites across WA. As they continue to expand their operations, they are looking to add to the existing team to maintain a high standards around the safety and well-being of their employees and strive to provide a workplace that fosters growth and innovation.
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in the organization, working closely with the end client, site management, employees, and regulatory bodies. Your primary responsibility will be to implement and oversee health and safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to legislative requirements, industry standards, and company policies. You will be an integral part of the team, promoting a strong safety culture and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems in compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls.
3. Provide expert advice and guidance to all levels of the organization on health and safety matters, promoting best practices and ensuring awareness.
4. Facilitate safety training programs and toolbox talks to enhance employee awareness and competence.
5. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.
6. Collaborate with site managers and supervisors to develop and monitor safety performance indicators, fostering a proactive safety culture.
7. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety activities, incidents, and compliance requirements.
8. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and emerging best practices, recommending appropriate changes to existing safety protocols.
Qualifications and Experience:
9. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the mining industry or a related field.
10. Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
11. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
12. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
13. Proven track record of conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
14. Qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (e.g., Cert IV in Work Health and Safety)
15. Familiarity with Western Australia mining regulations and industry-specific hazards is an advantage.
16. Ability to work on an 8:6 roster, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments.
