Job Summary :
As a Mechanical Superintendent, you will lead a team and supervise craft supervisors and/or craft professionals on a project.
You will lead, organise and direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate teams and materials to successfully execute assigned scope. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.
Major Responsibilities :
* Provides leadership for environmental, safety, health, injury/accident and fire prevention on the project. This includes assisting with safety orientation, preparation of safety procedures and leading direct hire safety meetings.
* Inspect area for unsafe conditions, behaviors and practices and take appropriate corrective action to mitigate and eliminate.
* Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work behaviors and practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.
* Be the Champion for the ZERO Accident Program. Ensure that Bechtel Core processes and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
* Ensure the applicable design document for mechanical commodities is provided to direct hire craft personnel to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
* Provide input into work packages including means and methods, sequencing, and manpower loading.
* Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labor and maintaining the four week look ahead schedule for labor and equipment.
* Interface with Labor/Industrial Relations for craft recruitment and training programs. Approve workforce job requirements and review work accomplished by each craft.
* Review craft time records using established automated tools.
* Responsible for implementing project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned work activities or applicable project specific policies and procedures.
* Ensure permanent plant materials are stored in accordance with specifications and project requirements.
* Coordinate with other discipline superintendents with established building or area construction work activities and plans.
* Provide input to Field Engineering for quantity tracking and report weekly installed quantities.
* Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables and coordinate through Procurement to obtain these materials.
* Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
* Plan the manpower and equipment required to execute the job.
* Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
* Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.
Education and Experience Requirements :
* Trade Qualification in Mechanical Fitting or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Sound knowledge and experience in the installation and alignment of both rotating and static equipment.
* Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means and methods.
* Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
* Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
* 15+ years relevant field experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills :
* Previous experience with the installation and alignment of GE turbine driven compressor packages and associated equipment including ducting and fire suppression systems.
* Advanced knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means and methods.
* Advanced knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
Additional Information :
This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.
