The Public Trustee and Guardian (PTG) for the ACT promotes and supports the rights, interests and life decisions of our clients and delivers excellent trustee outcomes for the ACT community. We perform a range of functions, deliver services under a range of legislation, and work closely with other ACT Government agencies and stakeholders. The Assistant Director leads the day-to-day administration of the Governance and Corporate Unit (GCU) team who provide a full suite of business and administrative services to the agency. The role is both operational and administrative, providing office management, reception support, HR/recruitment advice and contributes to the leadership and management of the agency as a senior leader. The role requires a multi-tasker with a willingness to jump in and support reception when required which includes responding to phone enquiries and speaking with clients at the reception desk. Office presence is required. PTG is undergoing organisational change, this is an excellent opportunity to work with the senior leadership group on projects which will shape the future of the agency. The GCU manager will – Support and coordinate agency recruitment Liaise with both Shared Services and Justice and Community Services (JACS) People and Workplace Strategy team on HR matters Interpret legislation to provide consistent and reliable advice to PTG staff Provide guidance to PTG staff on Whole of Government (WHoG) HR systems, source up to date policy and Enterprise Agreement (EA) advice Participate as a member of PTG’s Senior Leadership Group Provide input and contribute to the development of various agency proposals and projects including governance, delegations, learning and development, WH&S, records management and technology. Ensure the secure storage of client chattels by following Safe Custody procedure Take carriage of and provide assistance to the agency relating to tenancy/facility matters Take lead of functions involved in the office relocation project – the agency will relocate to Gungahlin, expected in January to February 2025.
