An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Maternal Child Health Nurse to join the Maternal and Child Health team at Portland District Health.
The primary role is to provide a flexible, universal, family focused Maternal and Child Health service which maximises the health and development potential of all children from birth to 6 years of age, using holistic health care and family centred practice. To provide client base with evidence-based practice with a focus on strengthening parenting capacity and to empower families to make optimal decisions related to their children’s health and development and wellbeing. This is a maternity leave backfill position with the potential for ongoing employment as casual Maternal and Child Health Nurse position at the end of the fixed term.
About you:
* Post Graduate Qualification in Maternal and Child Health Nursing
* Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners
* Regulation Agency and holds a current registration in both Nursing and Midwifery
* Experience in delivering MCH services, graduates will be considered
* Accreditation as a Nurse Immuniser or willing to work toward same
* Experience and skills in use of personal computing and CDIS software
* Demonstrated knowledge, experience and clinical competency related to the provision of autonomous child and family health nursing practice including the application of legislative and regulatory requirements pertaining to community child and family health services
* Specialised knowledge of normal child development and behaviour, and early intervention services for children and ability to identify families at risk and provide support, information, advocacy and referral when necessary
