Two Data Scientist positions are available in Canberra for an initial contract to 30 June 2025 with a 12-month extension option and competitive hourly rate.
About the Role
You will be working as a Data Scientist in the Analytics Reform Branch of a Government Department.
This branch is responsible for data analysis to support evidence-based decisions and policies.
Your Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and manage efficient, effective, and sustainable funding programs.
* Provide data and analysis to support evidence-based decisions and policies.
* Design, develop, and implement a new program to replace a separate Commonwealth Programme.
Requirements
* R (RStudio) skills.
* Machine Learning (ML) expertise.
* Basic SQL skills working on Oracle.
* DevOps ability, including GIT use.
* Data reporting using Excel or visualization tools like Power BI or Qlik.
* Statistical knowledge and machine learning modeling abilities (regression, dimension reduction, data distributions, etc.).
Eligibility
* Australian citizenship.
* The ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline personnel security clearance.
