How will I help?
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Business Lending & Private Wealth Lawyer to join a talented and high-performing team. As a Senior Lawyer, you will help the Westpac Group and our business partners deliver great oues for our customers and achieve their goals through exceptional legal advice and services, risk and management and leadership behaviours.
Senior Lawyers apply a breadth and/or depth of expertise in the law and/or the Group and work independently onplex matters with senior business stakeholders to achieve business goals. Senior Lawyers also contribute to the leadership, knowledge management, operational effectiveness and culture of the Practice Group and Legal Function.
Senior Lawyers will consult with The Group Executive, General Counsel, PGHs and Practice Leaders as appropriate and perform the role consistently with the Legal Advice Protocol and Legal Capability Framework.
Your key accountabilities will include:
4. Advising on legal risks associated withplex regulatory matters impacting Business Lending and Private Wealth
5. Contributing to the strategic and operational performance of the Legal function by contributing new ideas and initiatives; developing 'house views', function-wide improvements, and knowledge sharing
6. Partnering with our internal business partners to advise on legal issues, and building and maintaining relationships
7. Driving a continuous improvement culture, and encouraging and fostering an environment of innovation and creative thinking

What do I need?
We are seeking a Senior Lawyer (with 10+ years' Post admission experience, holding unrestricted Australian practicing certificate), with the following skills and experience:
8. A history of high performance within Legal
9. Deep financial services experience, in a large corporate or private practice environment
10. Expert knowledge and understanding of legal and regulatory duties, obligations and requirements related to Business Lending and Private Wealth
11. Excellent understanding of key trends and drivers in financial services
12. Solutions-focused with strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
13. Strongmercial acumen
14. Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills
