Our programs are underpinned by our philosophy of 'learning through play', as this is how babies and young children learn to understand, communicate, discover, imagine and create as they explore the world around them.The RoleThe Children's Services Chef exercises their expertise and passion for food to plan and prepare nutritious and varied meals that cater for the diverse needs of children, including a range of dietary, allergy and cultural needs. As a Children's Services Chef at our centre, you will have the opportunity to connect and engage with children through your passion for nutritious and appetizing food for young tummies.On any given day, this role is required to prepare morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack for up to 77 children. Menu planning and stock ordering are also key components of this role.The Children's Services Chef is also required to:Follow food safety regulations for safe food storage, handling and preparation.Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment at all times.Ensure food safety program records and documentation is maintained.Liaise with the Director, educator staff and parents of the centre regarding children's food and needs as required, particularly around children's dietary and allergy requirements.Contribute to a friendly and supportive team environment that is led by a focus on supporting children's needs.Create educational opportunities to engage children in cooking experiences.About YouYou will be someone with a passion for food and creating, with complementary qualifications and/or experience in food preparation for large groups of people. You will be able to work independently and under pressure whilst ensuring strong attention to detail.
