We are seeking ex-military or currently serving personnel with experience in Exercise and Training Activities Support across various levels, including specialist planning, operational analysis, tactical analysis, exercise planning, coaching, and mentoring.

The Role
The Simulated Environmental Effects service category, under the Collective and Individual Training Support Services (CITSS) program, enables the delivery of real-world contemporary and emerging threat human and material effects to enhance military training and exercise scenarios.
Sub-Service Categories
The following sub-service categories are included:
* Military Role Playing (Levels 1–6): Conducts role-playing activities without the use of service provider-supplied equipment or weapons.
* Ethnic Role Playing (Technical Specialist): Provides culturally accurate role-playing services tailored to specific scenarios.
* General Role Playing (Technical Specialist): Performs non-specialised role-playing activities to support training objectives.
* Moulage Effects (Technical Specialist): Creates realistic simulated injuries or trauma effects for training purposes.
* Simulation Planning (Technical Specialist): Develops and plans simulation activities aligned with training objectives.
* Simulation Systems Coordination (Technical Specialist): Coordinates and manages simulation systems to support training environments.
* Supporting Services (Technical Specialist): Provides ancillary services to ensure the effective delivery of simulation-based training.
Working Conditions
Contractual engagements are on a contractual basis, with locations spanning across Defence bases in Australia, including Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, and Townsville. Travel may be required across multiple Defence bases locally and interstate.
Requirements for Success
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:
* Current Baseline or Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearance (or higher)
* Experience working with the Australian Government or Defence
* Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities
* Strong problem-solving capabilities
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic and driven team
Role-Specific Requirements
Candidates must also possess specific skills and qualifications, including:
* Military Role Playing (Levels 1–6): Understanding of near-peer military behaviours to perform as part of a group within basic scenarios.
* Ethnic Role Playing (Technical Specialist): Ability to imitate members of a specified ethnic group, as defined in the tasking statement.
* General Role Playing (Technical Specialist): Acting skills to support training scenarios.
* Moulage Effects (Technical Specialist): Artistic abilities to create realistic effects for training purposes.
* Simulation Planning (Technical Specialist): Relevant experience and knowledge to plan and coordinate pyrotechnic and non-pyrotechnic battlefield simulation effects to achieve designated training outcomes.
* Simulation Technical (Technical Specialist): Accredited to conduct special effects pyrotechnics, registered with appropriate authorities, and compliant with relevant Commonwealth and state regulations for training activities.
* Simulation Systems Coordination (Technical Specialist): Experienced in the Military Appreciation Process.
* Supporting Services (Technical Specialist): Ability to provide general support to specialist effects staff (e.g., role-players, moulage artists, and effects specialists), including logistics, construction, dismantling of effects, and creation of effects within the scope of their skills.
