About the Role Development Services enables sustainable development for the community on the Sunshine Coast by working with industry stakeholders to achieve timely, customer focused development assessment services, advice and advocacy in the areas of planning, engineering, environment, landscape, building, plumbing and legislative compliance.
As the Development Engineer you will provide engineering advice, assessment and expertise in relation to development applications and investigations, politically sensitive requests, corporate activities and other matters, ensuring compliance with statutory timeframes and promoting a consistent approach for engineering assessment activities to achieve Council's growth management and sustainability outcomes. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide general technical engineering advice and the efficient assessment of development applications to all internal and external customers to deliver on Council's commitment for efficient and effective development services. Project manage, process, assess and negotiate on a range of simple to moderate development applications. Participate in pre-start meetings, inspections, tests and audits of development works relating to public contributed assets as required. Exercise initiative in making decisions, conducting negotiations, solving problems and resolving conflicts in relation to development applications. About you As a Development Engineer professional, you will have demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a political environment and the overall structure and business operations of a large local government.
You will possess the ability to work as part of a highly engaged multi-disciplinary team with civil engineering knowledge on a broad range of contemporary civil engineering design and construction practices in relation to development.
You will have the ability to demonstrate initiative and autonomy in making decisions with contemporary project management practices to coordinate development applications that require consultation, integration and negotiation to achieve successful development outcomes.
As a requirement of this role, you will possess a recognised tertiary qualification in civil engineering, with demonstrated application and experience in the workplace.
