Technical 5 (Remuneration Package $118,705 - $129,078) Road Projects Fixed vacancy until 14/01/2026 Katherine The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure Transport and Civil Service division Katherine are looking for a skilled Civil Project Manager to oversee the development and delivery of Minor New Works, Repairs and Maintenance projects, and Capital Works projects aimed at maintaining roads and other civil assets in the region. In this role, you will provide high-level specialist advice to management, clients, and fellow project managers, playing a vital part in enhancing our infrastructure.Your responsibilities will include contributing to the investigation, development, and formulation of civil asset acquisition and maintenance programs. You will conduct asset inspections and prepare project proposals, technical reports, cost estimates, contract documentation, and procurement processes. Ensuring compliance with current standards, codes, and guidelines, while obtaining necessary clearances, will be a key part of your role. Additionally, you will supervise and coordinate the work of Technical Officers assigned to specific projects to ensure effective collaboration and timely delivery. You will also be responsible for delivering assigned Capital Works, Minor New Works, and Repairs and Maintenance projects, ensuring they meet client requirements in terms of time, cost, and quality according to briefs from Client Departments. All duties must be performed in accordance with Department WH&S, EEO, and environmental guidelines.To qualify for this position, you should have a Diploma in civil construction or a relevant qualification, or equivalent experience directly related to the role. High-level written and oral communication skills are essential, along with the ability to prepare design, procurement, and project management documentation. A strong understanding of road and civil industry design, construction, and maintenance techniques, as well as best practices in environmental management, is required. You should also possess proficiency in information technology, including word processing, spreadsheet software, and project management tools. A solid understanding of relevant legislation—such as the Control Road Act, Sacred Sites Act, Work Health Act, and applicable environmental legislation—along with various Australian Standards and Codes of Practice is crucial. A current Driver's Licence is mandatory.While not essential, a recognised qualification in Engineering, Contract Management, Project Management, or a similar field would be highly desirable.
