The Branch focuses on service outcomes when deriving solutions to be delivered through assets and operations.Your role within this is to work collaboratively with the Engineering Design team, manage outsourced designs, and provide external advice to identify and resolve technical issues that will affect the delivery of the designs.In this role, you will be required to:Manage the design of infrastructure projects and priority projects with a focus on consultation with internal stakeholders, clients, and the public, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery of designs and relevant documentation.Identify project anomalies and risks, applying a due diligence approach, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies during the design development phase.Ensure that project deliverables are clear, including concepts, preliminary designs, or detail designs, along with accompanying design estimates and reports.Provide proactive technical design advice (under RPEQ Supervision) to council officers, councillors, and the public on policy matters and projects.Support direct supervision of allocated Civil Designers resources to deliver the required designs for the capital works program.Prepare project management plans, provide regular project status updates, manage project issues, and maintain good project documentation.About youAs a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), you will have formal qualifications (Degree) in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Planning (or equivalent) and extensive relevant experience in the discipline. A postgraduate qualification is also desirable.You will be a highly analytical individual with the capacity to problem-solve and make decisions using your ability to examine complex problems and develop innovative strategies for their resolution.Demonstrated leadership skills and experience will enable you to confidently lead and empower others, fostering a workplace culture consistent with Council’s corporate values.Your high level of interpersonal and communication skills will help you build effective relationships and teams, negotiate, resolve conflicts, and meet changing organisational needs.Our Culture & Employee BenefitsCouncil is committed to creating an inclusive, culturally diverse, healthy, skilled, and dedicated workplace culture.
