Reporting directly to Mater Group Chief Executive, this role will be based across our two campuses at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) and South Brisbane.The Executive Director Mater Research and Chief Research Officer provides leadership and management to ensure that the organisation meets its scientific, research and commercial objectives. In conjunction with the Board, the CRO/Executive Director is responsible for the development of the strategic direction of the organisation in line with the strategic plan.Mater Research is a recognised leader in translational medical research. Our bench to bedside philosophy sees us working across Mater Health's unique public and private Queensland-wide health service network, and academic partners - the University of Queensland, and the world-class TRI. This is a conjoint appointment with the University of Queensland, with the candidate typically at the Professorial or Associate Professorial level.We are committed to working closely with Mater Health, Mater Education, Mater Foundation and our growing network of partners and collaborators to turn scientific discovery into the best possible treatment, care, and outcomes for patients and our broader community.Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!What you'll be doingAs the primary interface of Mater Research and MRI-UQ with key stakeholders, the Executive Director Mater Research and Chief Research Officer is responsible for promoting, identifying and nurturing relationships with government, philanthropic organisations, other medical research institutes, hospitals, other research organisations and industry. The Executive Director Mater Research and Chief Research Officer is responsible for developing and ensuring the effective management of all aspects of the organisation's activities, including the development of a stream of significant, successful research programs.The Executive Director Mater Research and Chief Research Officer will drive the process of further developing a world-class medical research institute based upon a commitment to academic medicine to discover, develop and translate medical research for the benefit of humanity, that integrates with areas of excellence within the health services provided by the Mater Hospitals.About youAs the Executive Director Mater Research and Chief Research Officer, you will have tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field, such as medicine, science or allied health; Ph D or MD by research in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
