In close consultation with the Associate Director Alumni, the Alumni Relations Manager plays a pivotal role in managing alumni relationships and strengthening the lifelong connections between the University and its alumni community. The position holder will identify, implement, and manage innovative engagement and communication strategies to actively pursue, develop, manage, nurture and maintain the relationships with Alumni of the University.
The Alumni Relations Manager will oversee operational planning, development, and execution of alumni events and projects, manage alumni communication channels, support other University stakeholders with alumni-targeted events and initiatives, and work towards contributing to raising the University’s profile and advancing the institution's mission through showcasing alumni achievements and success stories. The position holder is also responsible for optimising alumni programs and monitoring outcomes by generating high-level reports that guide strategic decision-making and ensuring that produced deliverables effectively support the university’s strategic objectives.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until June 2025 based at Western’s Parramatta City Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required. Please review the position description for further information.
Key Responsibilities As an Alumni Relations Manager, you will:
Lead the operational planning and execution of alumni events and engagement activities that align with the University's strategic objectives.
Develop and implement innovative communication strategies to foster strong alumni connections through various channels, including social media, EDMs, and the alumni website.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of projects, events and initiatives requiring alumni participation, including alumni prospecting for guest speaking opportunities, matching volunteers, connecting mentors and mentees, etc.
Manage the production of alumni publications, including the Alumni GradLife Magazine, ensuring high-quality content and impactful storytelling.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with alumni at all stages of their careers, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Who we’re looking for We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional with a strong background in alumni engagement, relationship management, and communications. The ideal candidate will possess:
A degree qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education and training.
Proven experience in delivering exceptional client services through contemporary relationship management practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative approaches to stakeholder engagement.
High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in event and project management, ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives within deadlines.
Proficiency in using Customer Relationship Management databases such as Raiser’s Edge, with experience in utilising data to inform decision-making.
