This diverse fulltime position heads up a small, friendly and competent team in Port Adelaide.Specific role responsibilities: Perform routine instrumentation analysis and physical grading/classification of cereals, pulses & oilseed samples.Maintain good housekeeping (GLP) of the laboratory and site.Responsibility for the Laboratory's revenue and costs.Prepare formal quotes for customers, where required.Ensure testing data is recorded and reported in a timely manner.Be receptive to customer/company requests and/or deadlines.Support other AmSpec departments (internal customers).Follow through with external and internal customers & gauge customer satisfaction.Serve as focal point for QA/QC and be responsible for the oversight and review of quality control data on a routine basis.Prepare corrective and preventative action reports for all matters related to QA/QC and keep all records for review.Follow up on non-conformances, investigate preventative actions and implement appropriate corrective actions.Ensure technically correct analysis daily.Address all technical issues that may arise from routine analysis.Receive, compile, and verify the data resulting from lab testing.Monitor performance of testing equipment following Quality Control procedures and document and maintain accurate records for all quality control samples.Perform or delegate to laboratory staff tasks for instrument calibrations and preventative maintenance.Provide ongoing training and support to laboratory staff.Control the lab equipment and supply inventory.
