Join our team as the Media, Marketing and Communications Officer! You’ll play a vital role in shaping how Miwatj Health communicates and engages with the community. In this key position, you’ll manage all aspects of internal and external communications, including media relations, branding, marketing, and social media. Your responsibilities will include developing strategies that reflect Miwatj Health’s vision, producing engaging content, and overseeing the Miwatj website and social media platforms. You’ll manage media inquiries, ensure timely responses, and create various publications, including newsletters, policy documents, and our Annual Report. Additionally, you’ll participate in cultural festivals, ensuring our materials are culturally appropriate and resonate with the community. Successful applicants will have access to a range of benefits, including:
* Competitive annual salary of $103,826 - $116,069 per annum and 11.5% superannuation
* Ability to salary package up to $15,900 per annum plus a further $2,650 per annum on Meals and Entertainment
* Darwin City or Nhulunbuy
* 6 weeks annual leave (if Nhulunbuy-based) or 5 weeks annual leave (if Darwin-based) + 17.5% leave loading

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for the Media, Marketing and Communications Officer role, candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination, along with an understanding of the challenges faced by Yolngu people in remote areas. Tertiary qualifications in media, communications, journalism, marketing, or digital marketing are essential, along with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are required to convey complex information clearly to stakeholders. Candidates should have experience in graphic design and desktop publishing, the ability to handle sensitive information independently, and a proven track record in project management. Additionally, high-level research, analytical, and critical thinking skills are necessary.
