Responsibilities:
* Assist children and young people to recover from their experience of family violence trauma through the delivery of evidence-based and family violence trauma-informed therapeutic counselling and support.
* Contribute to and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of group programs.
* Provide information and support, referral, and advice to clients and other service providers.
* Assess and monitor the ongoing needs of the children and young people who access the service in relation to safety and stability in the context of family violence.
* Identify, develop, provide, or purchase the services required to meet the needs of children and families.
The Team:
The Department of Health is seeking a Family Violence Counsellor to join the Family Violence Counselling and Support Services - Child and Young Person Program (CHYPP). Join a passionate, dynamic, and supportive team in providing counselling and support to children, young people, and their families who have experienced family violence.
Details of Appointment: Allied Health Professional, Level 1-2. Permanent, part-time, day worker position working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Notwithstanding, hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary: $71,441 to $107,878 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
* Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, with either full membership or eligible for membership with the relevant professional association.
* Current Working with Children Registration.
Desirable Criteria:
* Current Driver’s Licence.
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion, or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
* Conviction checks in the following areas:
* crimes of violence
* sex-related offences
* serious drug offences
* crimes involving dishonesty
* Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
