As part of their ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability, they are undertaking a major process enhancement project to optimise their SOx scrubbing system.About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Process Engineer Chemical Engineering) to lead a critical process improvement project at a waste oil refinery. The successful candidate will oversee the design and execution planning phases to Final Investment Decision (FID), followed by implementation, commissioning, and handover of a new SOx scrubbing system. This project will transition from a Sodium-based SOx scrubbing system to a Calcium-based system, enabling more cost-effective waste treatment at a second facility in NSW.This role is ideal for a highly experienced project manager with a background in process engineering, plant modifications, and commissioning of industrial facilities.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the project through design and execution planning phases to Final Investment Decision (FID).Oversee implementation, commissioning, and successful handover of the new scrubbing system.Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution.Manage project scope, budget, schedules, and risk assessments to achieve key milestones.Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, and company leadership.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise plant performance and operational efficiency.Prepare and present progress reports and project documentation to senior management.Skills & Experience RequiredDegree in Chemical Engineering.Extensive experience in project management, particularly in design, execution, commissioning, and handover of industrial process plants.Background in waste treatment, oil refining, or chemical processing industries is highly regarded.Strong understanding of SOx scrubbing systems, emissions control, and process optimisation.Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams, budgets, and project timelines.Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.Commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and sustainability best practices.How to ApplyClick on the Apply button or for more information, please contact: WorkPac Principal Consultant: Rebecca Ross on or via email quoting the below reference number.
