The Youth Support Worker's primary role is to provide front line support to the YSS/YHARS team to assist in achieving operational outcomes as per client case plans.The Youth Support Worker is responsible for cultivating environments and opportunities that support young people's wellbeing, social connection, engagement, and empowerment by supporting the design, development, and implementation of programs that address the needs and interests of young people aged 12 – 21 years.As a member of the Youth Hub Team, the Youth Support Worker will be a professional and collaborative individual with excellent communication skills, capable of thriving in a dynamic work environment. The role requires the successful candidate to be able to engage and connect with young people and their families within the Fraser Coast community.Key Responsibilities and DutiesVisit young people at home both with the support of a caseworker or independently.Support families to develop skills in responding to young person's challenging behaviour and to engage with external services.Work with young people, family members, and the community to promote the family and young person's capacity.Develop, implement, and evaluate youth programs and activities that promote wellbeing, social connection, engagement, and empowerment.Facilitate inclusive programs and/or group activities that address the diverse needs, interests, and challenges of young people.Build and maintain positive, professional youth work relationships with young people, providing mentorship and support to facilitate personal development.Utilize good communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively promote youth programs and engage with stakeholders, including young people, caregivers, community members, and service providers.Improve the stability of family life and improve safety conditions.Build respectful and professional relationships with service users.Transport clients to appointments as required after consultation with case Worker.Participate and contribute to the organisation's compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS).Work within CQID's Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.Other responsibilities as directed by the Manager and Team Leader to meet program expectations.Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate capability in the following areas:A knowledge of relevant issues specific to Indigenous young people and their families.An awareness and understanding of Indigenous communities and proven capacity to communicate appropriately.Capacity to build respectful and professional relationships with service users, agencies, partners, community, colleagues, and clients.Capacity to provide support service to Indigenous families and Indigenous children.Ability to build relationships with a range of services, schools, social welfare, Court, Police, Legal, and health agencies.Ability to write case notes in a timely manner.Competent in the use of Microsoft Office software.Physical ability to undertake job responsibilities.Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.(Note: Non-Indigenous applicants will only be considered if no suitable Indigenous candidates are attracted in the first round of applicants) #J-18808-Ljbffr
