The Perth office has mixture of technical specialists across a range of disciplines and the well-established Ecology team is seeking their newest member They are a friendly bunch who work well together with a strong team culture. We are keen on speaking to Ecologists from a range of experience with the confidence and ability to hit the ground running in a busy environment. You will be open to turning your hand at a few different things (we are multi-skilled bunch) and enjoy a great social team environment in which we share success of working on great projects. You will also enjoy our brand-new dedicated microscope laboratory, equipped with top of the range compound and dissecting microscopes and a full-window view of the outside world. Our team of invertebrate specialists and career ecologists include staff across all junior, senior and management levels who will be there to support you in the responsibilities and tasks listed below. Responsibilities You will be confident in your technical ability and have a positive attitude to do the following tasks: Providing high quality service and advice in your area of expertise to clients and colleagues, in both office based and fieldwork activities Participate in field survey programs to collect a variety of different ecological data focusing on SRE invertebrates Interpretation and application of environmental legislation and technical guidance to projects across a variety of different sectors Development of technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and implications for environmental impact assessment and management Assisting in preparing tenders and proposals Integrating your technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams Make independent studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions and decisions and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studies Travel to remote areas, including interstate, to conduct field survey programs Training junior staff in collection and processing of SRE invertebrate specimens Skills and experience The successful candidate must have: An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources or in another related field 2-6 years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in government or academia, including undertaking SRE invertebrate surveys and report production Experience in the design and implementation of SRE invertebrate field surveys and monitoring programs Excellent SRE invertebrate identification skills Experience in preparing invertebrate specimens for submission to taxonomic experts and the WA Museum Mature report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high quality written material for publication Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks Proven project management experience in relation to client management and budget control Desired experience The following criteria are beneficial but not required for the role: Experience in the interpretation of molecular data for invertebrate species identification Experience with subterranean fauna survey and reporting Our Benefits We are proud of our unique culture where we work together to collaborate on projects to get the best possible outcome for our clients.
