Support Worker for Family in Mount Barker
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? An opportunity exists for a dedicated and empathetic support worker to join a family in Mount Barker. The family consists of a mother in her mid-40s and two children under 10, all of whom have disabilities. They live in a cosy house with a small dog and chickens. The father works in a demanding job that sometimes requires interstate travel, leaving the mother, a former allied health professional now unable to work due to her disabilities, to care for the children full-time.
* Trial Shifts: 3 x 3-hour paid shifts on Thursdays
* Potential Hours: Up to 20 hours per week across Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for the right person
Requirements:
* Understands their role is to provide support tailored to the family’s needs
* Lived experience or successful work with neurodivergent individuals
* Ability to meticulously follow a set list of tasks and instructions
* Genuinely cares for people and seeks to make a positive impact
* Kind, empathetic, and an excellent communicator
* Trustworthy, independent, and adheres to set working times
* Experience working within a family home
* Capable of performing a range of tasks including cleaning, tidying, laundry, meal preparation, child minding, running errands, making phone calls, and accompanying the mother and children on outings and appointments
* Willing to undertake less pleasant tasks when needed
* A non-smoker and comfortable not wearing perfume or strong-smelling body products in the home
* No travel allowance offered
Responsibilities:
* Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities
* Support clients with mobility and physical needs
* Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
* Offer companionship and emotional support
* Accompany clients to appointments and social outings
* Run errands and assist with shopping
* Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in clients' conditions
