Your Opportunity
In your role, you will be responsible for offering legal counsel to Primero and other MET businesses on pre-award and post-award activities. You will also support the General Manager in handling Commercial and Supply Chain matters.
This full-time position is located in our Osborne Park office and is perfect for candidates with expertise in negotiating intricate commercial agreements and mitigating contractual risks, preferably in the resource sector. However, experience in this sector is not essential.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive legal advice and support on a wide range of commercial matters.
* Develop legal templates for use by other areas of the business operations.
* Negotiate contracts, based on both internal contracts templates as well as client and sub-contract and supplier templates
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations, including state, federal, and industry-specific requirements.
* Manage and mitigate legal risks by implementing effective risk management strategies.
* Support business units with legal insights on commercial transactions and other business initiatives.
* Assist with dispute resolution and litigation matters, working closely with external legal counsel when required.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
* Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal processes, contract management, and compliance issues.
* Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the business and advise on necessary adaptations.
* Contribute to business strategy by aligning legal objectives with broader commercial goals.
What you ‘Can do’
* A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized institution.
* Current legal practicing certificate and registration in Australia (Western Australia preferred).
* Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law, with a strong understanding of construction law.
* Experience in negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing contractual risks.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide strategic legal advice that aligns with business objectives.
* Familiarity with industry-specific regulations in Western Australia (e.g., mining, energy, construction) is advantageous.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
