BASScare is a NFP which operates an integrated program of services including meals-on-wheels, residential care facilities, respite care, dementia specific services, retirement living, as well as planned activity groups at day centres, for older people who wish to remain active and engaged with their local communities.
BASScare is located in the leafy suburb of Canterbury, and we are looking for a skilled, dedicated, and experienced Maintenance Officer to join our team in a permanent, full-time position.
The Role
The Maintenance Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring our BASScare sites are well-maintained, safe, and secure for residents, staff, and visitors. You will provide high-quality, customer-focused maintenance services, covering a variety of tasks that ensure our facilities remain welcoming and functional.
Some of the duties include:
* Ensure requests for routine and urgent maintenance assigned to this role are responded to in a timely manner.
* Assist with regular maintenance and servicing of plant and equipment according to the preventative maintenance schedule and the Essential Services Measures.
* Ensure that the maintenance vehicle is regularly serviced, cleaned and maintained in safe and reliable working order.
* Assist with carrying out any minor renovations of vacant resident rooms, apartments and units.
* Minor plaster and woodwork repairs including painting.
* Inspecting and cleaning of all drains and stormwater pits.
* Pressure cleaning driveways and walkways.
* Ensuring that waste bins storage areas are kept clean and tidy.
* Grounds surrounding all buildings and courtyards are kept clean of leaves, debris including cobwebs.

Requirements
* General handy-person skills.
* Knowledge of legislation relevant to the position (e.g. Essential Services, Occupational Health and Safety, Hazardous Substances etc.)
* Demonstrated experience in ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, in an environment with multiple and conflicting demands.
* Initiative and the ability to work without direct supervision.
* Able to meet the physical requirements of the role.
* Basic computer skills (Office Word & Excel).
* Current drivers licence
* Current Satisfactory Police Check.
Hours of work and location
* Permanent Full Time: 5 days a week, 7:30 am – 3:30 pm.
* Working across multiple BASScare sites, Canterbury, Surrey Hills, Balwyn North & Glen Iris, Using the company van and equipment.

* $29 - $30 per hour, this will depend on qualifications and experience
