About the Role
We're seeking a Trades or Technical professional to work as a Data Centre Technician in our facilities team.
This entry-level position includes on-the-job training for data centre facility management and critical infrastructure.
The role involves day-to-day operations at our Port Melbourne data centre, ensuring efficient technical maintenance and customer service.
The successful candidate will work a 4–5–5 rotating shift roster with days from 7am–7pm and nights from 7pm–7am.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Delivering cabling and electrical services to customer racks and areas
* Responding to Remote Hands requests
* Managing vendor relationships for core electrical and mechanical systems
* Identifying and resolving facility issues in a timely manner
* Maintaining building management systems and escalating issues internally or to vendors
* Ensuring visitors and contractors adhere to NEXTDC facility rules
This role focuses on hands-on facility management, involving practical tasks and operational responsibilities.
Requirements
* Excellent customer service, communication skills, and a 'can-do' attitude
* Familiarity with data centres, cabling, and cable management (desirable)
* A passion for learning about telecommunications and problem-solving
* A keen interest in fixing and resolving issues
* TAFE Cert in Telecommunications (desirable)
Candidates must be Australian Citizens due to security clearances required.
