About the Role This is a leadership role that puts you at the heart of delivering Greater Shepparton's substantial capital works program.
Reporting to the Manager Project Delivery, you will manage a diverse team of Project Managers and a Project Support Officer, delivering a wide range of civil infrastructure projects—on time, within scope, and budget.
With a focus on team leadership, knowledge sharing, and capability building, you will guide your team through the full project lifecycle, ensuring quality, compliance, and stakeholder engagement at every step.
This is a hands-on role with operational and strategic responsibility, where you will contribute to key approvals, risk management, and the refinement of project delivery frameworks across the organisation.
Council's capital program includes a broad spectrum of civil works, offering team members opportunities to learn and grow.
As Team Leader, you will foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement, supporting career progression and maintaining a positive team dynamic.
Candidate Profile We're looking for a civil infrastructure professional with strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of project delivery in local government or related sectors.
You will bring the ability to manage and upskill a diverse team, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently while maintaining a focus on staff development and stakeholder engagement.
You'll need excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage across all levels of Council, including executive leadership.
Prior experience managing project teams, contractor relationships, and navigating approval and tender processes is essential.
A background in civil contracting with leadership experience will be considered.
The role requires someone who is solutions-focused, adaptable, and ready to lead from the front—whether that's guiding a team member through a challenge or stepping in to deliver a project.
A tertiary qualification in project management, civil engineering or a related field is preferrable.
