About the opportunity:
Reporting to the National Safety Manager, this is an important role in which you will provide leadership, coaching and support to implement the National Health and Safety plan initiatives at an operational level. You will facilitate and model a safety leadership style that demonstrates our priority for health and safety. You will provide a consultancy, coaching and support service to managers and supervisors on safety and health.
Further responsibilities will include contributing to the development of line management and supervisor health & safety capability including the concept of visible felt leadership and ensuring safety and health systems and processes are understood and implemented effectively by the line.
5. Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant safety and health legislation, trends and new initiatives impacting on the business.
6. Monitoring, measuring, tracking and reporting on and closing out of corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations and audits.
7. Providing advice, coaching and development to managers and supervisors to develop their safety and health knowledge and capability.
8. Yearly participation in detailed internal audits of sites throughout Australia.
9. Assisting and supporting line management with safety incident investigations, including the determination and tracking of correct and preventative measures.
10. Assisting and supporting line management in identifying, assessing, controlling and reviewing health and safety hazards.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will need:
11. A relevant qualification and/ or a commensurate level of experience and willingness to gain appropriate qualifications.
12. Previous experience in a safety or related leadership role within a high-risk environment e.g. quarrying, mining, oil & gas or heavy industrial manufacturing is preferred but not essential.
13. Relevant experience in behavioural safety and / or Critical Risk Management programmes
14. Current knowledge of OH&S legislation and practices
15. Demonstrated ability to drive and promote a zero-harm culture.
16. Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions.
17. Willingness to regularly travel to Echuca to support the Humes Echuca site leaders manage the risks associated with precast and prestressed reinforced concrete manufacturing.
