CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in supervising and coordinating the workflow of the following associates:
* Accounts Payable
* Accounts Receivable
* General Cashier / Accounts Clerk
* Receiving & Stores Officer
* Payroll (based in Sydney Shared Services Office)
1. Provides services relating to performance-based financial reporting
2. Cost Management
3. Assist in the training and mentoring of associates.
4. Strive to develop new procedures that reduce the workload for the associates and increase efficiency and productivity.
5. Provides management with reports to assist in decision-making.
6. Conduct associate performance and development reviews in conjunction with the Director of Finance.
7. Deputise for the Director of Finance during their absence.
General Accounting
1. Provide insight into cost performance and support the implementation of benchmarking and quality improvement initiatives.
2. Monthly balance-sheet reconciliation.
3. Preparation of month-end journals.
4. Complete monthly internal audits.
5. Ensure all budgets/forecasts are uploaded into the back office system.
6. Prepare relevant Local Standard Operating Procedures - LSOP's.
7. Assist with budget and forecast preparation by providing historical data or support details to the Director of Finance and Department Heads.
8. Bank account maintenance and reconciliation.
9. Take surprise counts of the cashier floats in the hotel.
10. Perform control audits of back-of-house functions with the cooperation of the relevant department representatives.
11. Ensure an organised, up to date filing system is maintained for all pertinent financial records.
12. Respond to changes in departmental functions as dictated by the Industry, Company or Hotel.
Revenue Cycle
1. Review and ensure the accurate and timely preparation of the daily Gross Revenue Report (GRR).
2. Monitor the extent and control of house banks and investments.
3. Review the aged receivables report for problematic accounts.
Expenditure Cycle
1. Record / reconcile all movements in balance sheet accounts and ensure the correct allocation of those accounts.
2. Record / review all inventory movements including stocktake entries and cost of sale calculations.
3. Responsible for wage/travel advance collection and administration.
4. Maintenance of FF&E cash book and related back-up.
Reporting
1. Month-end reports
2. Monthly Accounts Receivable aging
3. Owner reporting
4. Any other statistical reports which may be required by the Hotel, Local Authorities or Corporate Office.
Other
1. Direct assistance to the Director of Finance in relation to monitoring hotel performance and identifying areas for improvement.
2. Micros System supervision.
