About the roleThis is a fixed-term full-time opportunity from Aug 2025 to Feb 2026. The Palliative Care Registrar is based at 3 days at Neringah Hospital and 2 days at Mona Vale Hospital. This role provides palliative care reviews to patients in the home setting and works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure that medical clinical care is provided to outpatients of the Palliative Care service, under the supervision of the Staff Specialist.
The essence of this roleProvide palliative care reviews to patients in an outpatient clinic and home visitsProvide specialist palliative care reviews in residential aged care facilitiesLiaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in providing patient careMaintain an appropriate standard of personal professionalism at all times and in all activities undertakenImplement a personal learning program for the term in conjunction with their Specialist SupervisorQualifications | Work Experience | Skills and CompetenciesEssential Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare's Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in ActionUnrestricted NSW Medical Board Registration or eligibility for Unrestricted NSW RegistrationPrimary Medical degree, eligible for Medical Board registration, and a minimum of two years supervised practice as an RMOExperience in Palliative Medicine or related specialty with competence in the individual specialty area expected to be consistent with the level of training and professional development stage attained by the individual occupying the positionStrong administrative and computer skillsAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamCurrent Driver's LicenseDemonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skillsOrganisational ability – both personal organisation and ability to supervise othersDemonstrated compassion and caring attitude.Desirable Advanced palliative medicine trainee (RACP, AChPM) or other Accredited trainees (eg other specialities, general practice)Previous training in oncology (medical or radiation) or other relevant specialitiesExperience in medical research and quality assuranceExperience in undergraduate and postgraduate teachingWorking towards post-graduate qualifications in Palliative Medicine (including a palliative care diploma) or related specialtyReady to make a change?
