Eastern Goldfields College (EGC) is located in Kalgoorlie-Boulder - an inland city in Western Australia with a population of more than thirty thousand people and is the centre of a large mining and pastoral region. The College exists in a unique and diverse educational domain. It shares facilities with Central Regional TAFE. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
The Role
EGC is seeking a responsible and committed Marketing and Media Officer to join their team.
The Marketing and Media Officer's role includes all elements of internal and external marketing. We want our staff, students, parents and the wider community to know and support what makes EGC a distinctive school and where it is heading in the future. Internal and external communication in an organisation such as EGC is a mammoth exercise. Communicating in different ways to suit the needs of various stakeholders presents an exciting challenge for the Marketing and Media Officer. Communicating effectively with people and services that support the college from employers to government agencies adds another dimension to the role.
The Marketing and Media Officer is responsible to the Manager Corporate Services for the effective and efficient management of marketing and communications throughout the college community. As a senior member of the corporate services staff, the officer is required to plan, enact, monitor and report progress on associated operational targets within the college business plan.
The Marketing and Media Officer is responsible for promoting and marketing the school, with a focus on managing the public relations, marketing and communications for the school. The Marketing and Media Officer will also keep the school website current, and research current trends and web design, as well as manage the annual marketing budget. They will be required to work alongside the executive leadership team including the Principal, Deputy Principals and the Manager of Corporate Services.
The successful applicant should ideally have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to work in both a team environment, particularly within the executive team, and autonomously. It is highly desirable for the successful applicant to be well organised and have the ability to interact with professionalism within a diverse cultural community and with a range of Government and outside agencies. The successful applicant should be well organised and able to work under pressure with high accuracy, combined with the ability to use their initiative and prioritise tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
