Respiratory Medicine at The Alfred provides specialist consultative services throughout the breadth of respiratory medicine and allergic diseases, and includes four constituent clinical Services. The clinical operational structure comprises of: Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology Service, Cystic Fibrosis Service, General Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Service, Lung Transplantation Service and Physiology Service. A number of joint cross-portfolio Services underpin the clinical operations of Respiratory Medicine. The academic and teaching activities of Respiratory Medicine are under the auspices of the Professor/Director of Research Allergy Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, within the Central Clinical School.
Position Summary
As the Cystic Fibrosis Nurse Coordinator, you foster the autonomy/independence of the patients in managing their health care, in keeping with the spirit of the health service agreement. You understand the importance of establishing a relationship between the patient and yourself in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for your patients. You demonstrate the core values of patient-centred care, trust and respect in every interaction with patients, carers and colleagues. In your role as Nurse Coordinator, you will liaise and work closely with the Head of the Cystic Fibrosis Service and the other members of the multidisciplinary cystic fibrosis team. You will have an in-depth understanding of the issues and health care trends affecting patients with cystic fibrosis and the Alfred’s Cystic Fibrosis Service.
Qualifications and Experience
Registered Nurse (Division 1) with a current practising certificate.
Minimum 5 years acute nursing experience.
Experience in Respiratory Medicine and/or managing the health care needs of people with cystic fibrosis.
2 years respiratory and/or cardiovascular nursing experience.
Postgraduate qualification preferred.
