The Opportunity The Principal Network Planner plays a key role in shaping South Australia’s transport network by delivering high-level advice and innovative solutions. This role focuses on enhancing connectivity, improving public transport, and aligning with the Department’s strategic goals to support growth and liveability. You will collaborate with stakeholders to analyse network performance, develop evidence-based recommendations, and contribute to policies and programs that guide transport investments. Engaging with communities and professionals, you will address sensitive issues, integrate land use and transport planning, and drive improvements for a sustainable and efficient system. Your key strengths include: Demonstrated experience in formulating and delivering solutions that align with organisational goals and respond to emerging transport and land-use trends. Proven ability to interpret complex data, perform detailed analysis, and develop evidence-based recommendations. Well-developed written and verbal communication capabilities, including delivering clear, concise presentations and reports to senior stakeholders. Strong experience in managing planning studies and transport initiatives under broad direction, ensuring timely and effective outcomes. Qualifications/Experience For appointment to the role at the PO4 classification level, a degree in Engineering providing eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Australia is required, or a Tertiary qualification in Planning. For appointment to the role at the ASO7 classification level, relevant tertiary qualifications (Degree or Higher) in Engineering, Planning, Commerce, Business or Policy is highly desirable. Special Conditions The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years. Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required. Remuneration PO4 - $110,696 to $120,470 pa + superannuation. ASO7 - $108,109 to $116,864 pa + superannuation.
