The Neurotranscriptomics Laboratory at the Garvan Institute is at the forefront of integrating RNA biology with advanced computational and molecular techniques to unlock the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders. Our cutting-edge research team comprises a dynamic mix of RNA scientists, bioinformaticians and skilled molecular biologists, fostering a highly multidisciplinary environment. This unique blend of expertise allows us to tackle complex neurological challenges from multiple angles, driving innovative discoveries in basic, biomedical and translational research.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking a talented and driven Research Officer in RNA neurobiology to join the Neurotranscriptomics Laboratory of Associate Professor Robert Weatheritt.
This role offers the chance to contribute to groundbreaking research in neuroscience and RNA biology using state-of-the-art transcriptomic, genomic, and imaging methods. As a Research Officer, you will lead an innovative project investigating the roles of membraneless organelles, alternative splicing, and RNA processing in neurodegenerative disorders. You'll work with advanced techniques, including CRISPR perturb-seq, single-cell sequencing, APEX-sequencing, and CRISPR editing technology in differentiated neurons.
We are looking for a motivated individual with strong wet-lab skills and a keen interest in RNA and neurodegenerative diseases.
